
Kate Luckert Schmid
Kate Luckert Schmid joined the Grand Rapids Community Foundation in 2001. As Program Director Kate assists in the implementation of the Community Foundation's general grantmaking and works with a number of specific programs and funds held at the Community Foundation. She is also spearheading the Community Foundation's Encore effort, aimed at engaging experienced adults in addressing critical issues facing our community. Kate works closely with the Foundation’s geographic component funds including Wyoming Community Foundation, Ionia Community Foundation, Sparta Community Foundation, Southeast Ottawa Community Foundation and the Lowell Area Community Fund.
Prior to coming to the Community Foundation she worked as a graduate assistant at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University conducting community research regarding poverty and philanthropic trends. She also held positions at West Michigan YMCAs in the areas of program, facility operations and management. Kate earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education from Grand Valley State University and has a Master’s in Public Administration with an emphasis on Nonprofit Leadership also from Grand Valley.
