
Ruth Bishop
Since joining the Grand Rapids Community Foundation in 1992, Ruth has administered a variety of education related programs.She currently is responsible for administering awards for over 65 scholarship funds and supports local efforts targeting college access for all. She is the program director for the Youth Enrichment Scholarship (YES) Program, a financial aid commitment program providing scholarships to students beginning in 4th grade for summer activities and culminating in a scholarship for college or vocational training upon successful completion of high school.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Ruth worked in various general and special education administrative positions in both the public and private school sector. She is a member of the National Scholarship Providers Association, Vice-chair of the Kent County Mentor Collaborative, and a member of the Governor's Michigan College Access Network Advisory Group.
