Authentic collaboration!

A great deal of discussion is swirling around regarding the real meaning of collaboration and we have one of the best examples of it with the Kent School Services Network that I have referenced a few times previously. Foundations, county government, health care organizations, social service agencies and many others have joined together to realize the vision of community schools in a pilot effort that is in its third year. The Kent County Family and Children's Coordinating Council under the leadership of Matthew VanZetten has done a remarkable job keeping all this going and the Kent Intermediate School Dirstrict (KISD) is the project manager. We are pleased to see some good results and are hopeful that this will continue! Kevin Konarska, the Superintendent of the KISD and I submitted a commentary that was published in the Saturday, September 21st edition of The Grand Rapids Press.
