Goal: Provide quality schools and education for all students.

Here's what successful grant recipients will need to use for measuring their programs:

In Grand Rapids Public Schools:

MEAP English Language Arts (ELA) – percent of students achieving proficiency in English Language Arts on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program test.
Graduation rates – percent of students in Grand Rapids Public high schools graduating within four years.
MEAP math – percent of students achieving proficiency in mathematics on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program test.
MEAP science – percent of students achieving proficiency in science on the Michigan Educational Assessment Program test.
School readiness – average of the percent of students entering Kindergarten who could recognize 10 or more letters, the percent who knew how a book is organized, and the percent who could rhyme words.
Student retention – percent of students who dropped out subtracted from 100 percent.
