What Ben does:

Ben works with students, parents, school staff and community partners of the West Side to create the conditions for post-secondary success in West Grand Rapids through catalytic opportunities.  

What he did before:

Ben previously served at the Literacy Center of West Michigan as an AmeriCorps and LeaderCorps member in the Schools of Hope Program, where he facilitated involvement among parents of Harrison Park through ESL and Family Literacy classes. In 2014, Ben was the recipient of the YNPN Advocate Award. Ben obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Spanish Studies from Andrews University.

When Ben’s not working:

Ben stays busy as a Leadership Team Member of the West Michigan Latino Network. He also cares for Grand Rapids parks by volunteering as a Citizen Forester with Friends of Grand Rapids Parks.
