What Eugene Does:

Eugene has a leadership role in grantmaking including management of our Fund for Community Good. Eugene plays a critical role as relationship-builder, community liaison, and strategist to successfully allocate resources and implement initiatives that advance systems toward racial justice and equity.

What he did before:

Previously, Eugene worked at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids as the Community Enrichment Director. At the Y he created successful cross-community collaborations, advocated for residents of under-resourced communities, and orchestrated community programs that increased access to fresh produce in food deserts, and connect residents with physical activity opportunities and health resources. His clinical experience includes eleven years in inpatient and outpatient facilities working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, substance abuse and mental, emotional, and relational concerns. Eugene earned his Master’s degree in Social work from Western Michigan University and his Master’s in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University.

When Eugene isn’t working:

He focuses on spending quality time with family and friends especially his lovely daughter, bike riding and traveling. He also enjoys watching football games and binge watching Netflix and being outdoors.
