What DeShawn Does:

As a strategic communications assistant, DeShawn supports the Strategic Communications Department by providing administrative support, providing editorial assistance, organizing and archiving materials, and being a thought partner and brand ambassador. She also is a member of the Software Transition Committee at the Community Foundation.

What DeShawn did before:

She has worked at various nonprofits doing engagement and project management work. She earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Western Michigan University and her master's degree in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit leadership and management from Grand Valley State University.

When DeShawn isn’t working:

She enjoys fitness activities, traveling with her husband, cooking, and reading.
