Community Foundation Help for the California Fires

The following is a letter from Bob Kelly, President and CEO of the San Diego Foundation. During this catastrophic event our friends in California are in our thoughts and prayers. Dear Friends, This is a difficult time for many in our community; our thoughts are with all of those who have been affected by the fires. As you may know, The San Diego Foundation established an After-the-Fire Fund following the fires in 2003 to make grants to organizations assisting communities affected by the disaster. Thanks to the generosity of many, we were able to donate more than $3 million dollars to support emergency response, recovery and rebuilding efforts in the fire-ravaged communities. Please Click Here for a comprehensive report that was developed about our work in 2003. We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we have established another After-the-Fires Fund and are accepting donations. We will make sure these funds are disbursed as quickly and strategically as possible with the help of The San Diego Foundation Disaster Relief Board. Once the fires have passed, our community will face immense needs in every area of life starting with food, shelter and clothing and extending to social services, ongoing health care, environmental concerns, animal welfare and even scholarships for students in fire-affected families. If you are interested in helping to rebuild our community following this year's fire: Click here to donate online or make your check payable to The San Diego Foundation After-the-Fires Fund and send to: The San Diego Foundation 2508 Historic Decatur Road, Suite 200 San Diego, CA 92106 For other types of gifts, including stock, please call us at The San Diego Foundation at (619) 235-2300. In advance, we would like to thank you for your continuous support of those in need in San Diego. Sincerely, Bob Kelly President & CEO
