New Grants Aid Families Facing Foreclosure, Keep Children Safe and Preserve Greenspace

Grand Rapids Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees recently approved grants totaling $352,400 to the following nonprofit organizations in Kent County.

Fair Housing Center of West Michigan was awarded $52,400 to continue the work of a community foreclosure coordinator who is connecting homeowners in need to foreclosure prevention services.

Family Outreach Center received $100,000 to place children at risk of abuse and neglect with relatives in an effort to avoid foster care placement.

Grand Rapids Christian Schools Foundation was awarded $50,000 to increase and preserve the greenspace and renovation of Pontiac Park.

Hope Network received $75,000 to prepare and place disabled high school students in competitive employment where they will retain jobs for at least one year.

Kent Intermediate School District was awarded $75,000 for students to implement action plans to enhance diversity and tolerance in their school.
