In its latest year of operations, Grand Rapids Community Foundation awarded $15,981,899 in grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to students. This and other information were recently released in the organization’s 2021-2022 annual report, sharing how the Community Foundation has used the tools of philanthropy to respond to community needs.
With support from hundreds of partners, who give time, expertise and financial contributions, the Community Foundation is pursuing its mission—to build and manage our community’s permanent endowment and lead the community to strengthen the lives of its people. Founded in 1922, the Community Foundation supports local nonprofits, leads significant social change and helps donors achieve their philanthropic goals.
The report features nonprofit, community and donor partners who have shaped our past, defined our present and are informing our future. It also reports the organization’s financial performance and operational growth and highlights our approach to trust-based and community-led philanthropy.
This special centennial issue annual report also includes a snapshot of impact from a century's worth of community investment and a celebration of our 100 New Philanthropists. In the organization's first century, total grants and scholarships awarded have exceeded $280 million, and more than 2,500+ unique nonprofit organizations supported through grant awards.
