Jenine Torres recently accepted a new position at Grand Rapids Community Foundation, taking the role of philanthropic services director. In her new role, Jenine will lead the Philanthropic Services team, providing strategic guidance and serving as a trusted relationship manager for donor advisors and fund partners. In collaboration with other staff, Jenine also directs the activities of the Somos Comunidad, Black Legacy, Our LGBTQ and Youth funds. Through these engagement efforts, Jenine activates our North Star—creating connections and providing resources to support local philanthropists, nonprofit organizations and other partners.
“My time so far with the Community Foundation has been shaped by many mentors, colleagues and community partners,” Jenine said. “I’m honored to carry forward the lessons I’ve learned with equity at the center to steward resources for our community.”
During her 9 years with the Community Foundation, Jenine has taken on increasing levels of leadership responsibility through work in the Development department and across the organization. Her accomplishments have included the reimagining of Community Partnership Funds and working cross-departmentally to refocus our scholarship offerings to ensure these resources advance our equity priorities. Jenine has played a key leadership role in many initiatives across the organization, including shaping the Community Foundation’s celebration of its centennial in 2022.
Jenine joined the Community Foundation as a development officer in 2016 and previously served as development director. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Humboldt State University and a Master of Public Administration from Grand Valley State University. In 2021 she earned her Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation from the American College of Financial Services.
